Total System Approach
Barna believes in the total system approach to log home building because it is the best way to ensure the highest quality results. Having all framing and trim lumber shipped as a package ensures that everything needed for construction will be available and that all of these materials have been subjected to the same high standards of quality control.
Our Packages
Barna Log Homes provides a wide variety of product options, which currently consist of nine different log systems, in as many as four different log species; three different types of exterior windows and doors; uncut or pre-cut rafter and beam systems, each available in two different types of material; and two different types of dry-in packages with many options.

For presentation purposes, three Total System Packages—Bronze, Silver and Gold—
have been assembled for customers to experience the broad range of possibilities
available from Barna Log Homes.
BRONZE
Materials for construction
through dry-in stage include:
- 8" Round or D, Yellow Pine log package (see log profiles link below)
- 8" Round porch posts
- Frame gables with log siding exterior
- Wood windows and doors
- Uncut heavy timber upper beam system
- Conventional 2x uncut rafter system
- Sub-floor system
- Porch and deck floor system
- Upper floor sheathing
- Dormer framing, sheathing and exterior log siding
- Conventional roof sheathing and fel

SILVER
Materials for construction
through dry-in stage include everything in the bronze package, plus:
- Upgrade to uncut heavy timber rafter system
- Upgrade to built-up roof system
- Add interior stud partitions
- Add interior doors
- Add interior sculpted trim
- Add interior conventional stairs
- Add exterior rustic round railing

GOLD
Materials for construction through dry-in stage include everything in the silver package, plus:
- Upgrade to 10" Round log package (see log profiles link below)
- Upgrade to full log gables
- Upgrade to natural porch posts
- Upgrade to aluminum-clad window and door package
- Upgrade to pre-cut round rafter and beam package
- Upgrade to natural girder posts
- Upgrade to natural ridge posts
- Add natural half-log stringer
- Add rosette and baseboard trim package
- Add exterior rustic round railing

Handcrafted Building System

- Shingles
- Floor and wall covering for interior partition walls
(Second
stories on our homes are floored with 2” tongue and groove white pine. Many
customers sand and seal this for a finished floor. This surface is also serves
as the finished ceiling of the first floor.)
